Thanks for your article about accepting chronic illness. I’ve had chronic autoimmune problems since my early 20’s. Because I did so well for over 10 years. I never really had to learn acceptance. Denial was working just fine, why change? 3 years ago, I went out of a remission state and into a high flare state. Since then I’ve had many surgeries, many drugs, lots of attempts at getting back to normal. Since last August, I’ve been making plans in my head of what I feel would be a healthy lifestyle for me. I left my high paying full time job (I was off on disability half the time anyway) and got a lower stress, lower paying, part time job. I am now living the lower stress, slower paced lifestyle I had planned. But it’s only been the past few weeks that it’s sinking into my head that wow, I’m not going to get better. I’m doing the best I can to learn acceptance. Your article helps. Thanks very much for writing it and putting it online.

Is there any chance you have lyme that is showing negative on tests? I have three very close family members that have lyme. One had a negative test for five years… until she could not walk anymore…

I have gastroparesis… it is so hard living with a chronic illness… so I know what you are going through… hang in there – so glad to have “met” you through the scavenger hunt!

Thanks D — I’m glad you found my article on acceptance helpful…I wish you all the best.

Hi Katherine — Many moons ago I was tested for Lyme, it was inconclusive so they did a more sensitive test and that came back negative. Thanks for participating in the scavenger hunt.
